Tickets, lodging, and passports…oh my!

We finally received the news that we had been longing to hear…we have a new court date in Ethiopia! We are finally going to meet our new children for the very first time. To see God’s will and plan for our lives unfold before our very eyes. Thankful. Grateful. Humbled. Those words don’t even being to describe how I feel about this news. We will be boarding a plane bound for Dubai on July 3rd. We are spending 2 nights in Dubai to take advantage of being able to see some of the sights. We plan on doing THIS and THISwhile we are there. Once our time in Dubai is over, we will board another plane bound for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia! We will arrive in Ethiopia on July 6th. We will visit the children for a couple of hours each time the following 2 days. Our weekend will be spent trying to soak up our children’s country…exploring…purchasing items for H and H to have as they grow up, etc. Then on Monday, July 11th, we will go before the judge and give our consent for the adoption. Please pray with us that we will pass court the first go around. Sometimes cases are thrown out due to paperwork issues and such. We just want to bring our children home sooner rather than later!! We will try to update the blog while we are in Ethiopia.

Ali and Clark are enjoying VBS at our church this week. Ali is a crew leader this year. I feel for Clark’s crew leader…my little man was bouncing off the walls by the end of VBS today. Wew, can you say ENERGY? Other than that, we haven’t done a lot since the kiddos finished school for the summer. We went to Destin, FL with some of my family the middle of May. It was fabulous as usual! Ali and Clark still have their swimming and gymnastics practices all summer. Clark is going to go to a soccer day camp next week. He is so excited. He went last year and LOVED it. Since playing soccer doesn’t fit easily into his gymnastics schedule anymore, he will at least enjoy getting to play all week. Ali will attend a Lutheran camp the week after we return from Ethiopia. She always looks forward to that. However, I always dread the laundry that follows her home!!! ICK! Stinky, dirty, gross…you get my drift. 🙂

Ali was confirmed at our church last weekend. It was such a lovely service. We were so proud of her. The kiddos in her group all read their faith statments on Saturday evening and the parents were able to write a blessing and say it over them. Such a neat time in her life. The past 3 years of her confirmation classes have passed so incredibly fast!

Please pray for my dad. He is fighting a bad staph infection in his foot. He is a diabetic also, which makes fighting off the infection even more difficult.

“Though the mountains be shaken
   and the hills be removed,
yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken
nor my covenant of peace be removed,”
says the LORD, who has compassion on you.  Isaiah 54:10

This was Ali’s confirmation verse that the pastor chose for her certificate. I love that verse! I hope Ali always remembers that no matter what happens, God is the ONE constant that we can always have faith in.

Here are photos from the last month or so!
